Night Watch 360

I had the great pleasure of working on the Nachtwacht360.nl project by Julius Rooymans and Hans Ubbink as part of the "Year of Rembrandt" celebration here in the Netherlands. 2019 marks the 350th anniversary of Rembrandt's death and therefore the producers of the project decided to recreate Rembrandt's most famous painting, The Night Watch, with people closely resembling the characters in the original painting.
My part in this project was the redesign of some of the key props in the painting that no longer exist or were made up by Rembrandt at the time and therefore never existed.
I sculpted 2 of the helmets in the final image using ZBrush, the Mercurius (winged) helmet and the Burgonet as well as the collar and spear (Partizan) of the main figure in the painting (Captain Frans Banninck Cocq (in white)).
After the designs were finished, they were sent to a local 3D printing service, Oceanz, to be printed in white Nylon using the Selective Laser Sintering technology.
